Hello all -
I've recently installed my shiny new Elk M1-Gold security system, and plan to use it to control home automation. I currently have the following add-on components: • ELK-M1XSLZW M1 to Leviton Z-Wave interface • Leviton VRC0P-1LW (+3) Plug-in RS232 serial interface module • Leviton VRUSB-1US Vizia RF+ Installer Tool Software I am planning to start with GE lamp modules (model 45602). My question is: Has anyone successfully "associated" any NON-Leviton RF+ dimmer modules (or any OTHER non-Leviton Z-Wave product) with the VRC0P? I read a Leviton application note saying that only Leviton RF+ components can be associated with the VRC0P. I find that hard to believe. That would be a big limitation in my planning, since Leviton doesn't make every Z-Wave-compatible device I need, and I want to control everything from the Elk. Many thanks, and I'm anxious to get into this new world! |

Follow the links in my signature for a free HA program and install my driver for the VRC0P. Once you install it, you can examine how it works using port spy in Premise.
You can associate any device that supports the ASSOCIATION CLASS (not all devices do) with the VRC0P. Examine the output of my driver for the syntax to use. Many 3rd party products will send two-way status feedback to the VRC0P, but I would highly recommend you debug things first with a PC, then use the Elk once you understand the syntax. -------------------- Advanced FREE home automation software called Premise:

Hello - Many thanks for the reply, however, I'm getting nowhere. The link to download the Premise HA software on your Wiki (http://www.premisesystems.net/downloads/) is broken (server error) and the link to the Cocoontech downloads has 11 pages of stuff, none of which appear to be the actual Premise HA software. I'm also getting into the weeds here. My basic question is very rudimentary; that is: Does NON-LEVITON RF+ BANDED stuff work with the VRC0P or not? |
