I’m new to Z-wave and installed a very basic setup to get some experience.
I have: Aeon Labs Z-Stick connected to a Ubuntu server Duwi Adaptor plug Switch Model ZW ZS 3500 (has a router function) Home Pro Motion sensor SIR010 The distance between the motion sensor and my server is quit big(10 meter) and I experience that sometimes I miss the signal at my server. The Adaptor plug switch is in the same room and the communication with this device is always fine. For instance when I poll the device I receive always the answer. Because the motion sensor is battery powered and the switch not, I can imagine that the switch has a stronger signal. However I would expect that the router function of the switch repeats the weak signal of the motion sensor. When I included the motion sensor to the network it was already at its final location and the plug switch was also already in operation in this room. (I red that this is important) Does somebody know if I have to do something special to use the router function of the plug switch? Thanks, Tony |

Add a another device or 2 - remember Z-Wave builds a mesh network - the more devices the better the network. Battery powered devices do not route - powered devices do. Hope that helps
